From the very beginning of the fourth campaign, recently appointed game master Brennan Lee Mulligan has maintained audience suspense with deep backstory, a diverse cast of heroes, and a exciting storyline featuring divine entities, fiends, and malevolent powers growing in influence within the urban setting.
Warning: Key plot points for Episode 3 of Campaign 4 are included.
The Soldiers Table Revealed
The third episode finished on a dramatic pause and introduced the initial group of adventurers who will split off from the central cast to undertake their independent quest, distinct from the remaining groups.
The Soldiers table includes Teor (brought to life by the voice actor), the nimble rogue (Laura), the strong-willed figure (the cast member), Wicander (Sam Riegel), and Kattigan (Robbie).
Dividing the Cast
With an extensive roster, it was clear from the outset that keeping everyone at the same party would be unworkable.
Hence, the first four episodes of Campaign 4 serve as an Introduction, weaving together the characters’ stories before branching into three smaller tables: Fighters, Schemers, and Seekers.
What Defines the Combat Party
Per Brennan Lee Mulligan, the Soldiers table is for players who prefer a traditionally charged battle-oriented story mode where diplomatic options are scarce.
Initially, figures such as the hesitant healer the cleric might look out of place, but the events of the third episode demonstrate why these specific adventurers are best suited for the combat party.
Motivations for Departure
First, the team knows exactly where to proceed after a brutal first encounter with The Crow Keepers.
A former ally of Thjazi Fang—whose demise kicked off the story’s plot—used The Crow Keepers for his own means, breaking into the hidden lair, striking the character, and swiping all the enchanted items to auction.
Casimir then paid off his debts and fled to a secure base in Gormalay, Timmony, north of the urban center, with Cyd Pridesire pursuing him.
Character Drivers
Moreover, each adventurer has a specific drive to leave the city Dol-Makjar:
- Thimble, as the companion and best friend, wants retribution.
- The adventurer knows the northern area and warns that it is a hostile location.
- The strong character and Wicander, having resisted his relatives’ demands to execute Teor and instead rescued him, have nowhere else to go.
- However, their reputation as key figures in House Halovar could help the group enter locations they typically wouldn’t be able to.
- Furthermore, The grateful character pledged a unbreakable promise to The savior for his deliverance and will now go with him everywhere.
Fugitives
In addition, all of them are hunted by the rulers that govern the setting for a range of causes, making staying in the city too risky:
- Thimble and Kattigan are known criminals.
- The warrior and Wicander betrayed the powerful family and the horde of evil beings they are aligned with.
- The target is marked for death by the clan.
This leaves them few options but to travel to the remote area in quest for Casimir.
